Becoming a Certified Medication Aide in NJ

Becoming a certified medication aide can significantly your increase income and open the doors to many jobs that require a certification. To be eligible for certification as a medication aide, you must be currently certified in New Jersey as a nurse aide, home health aide or personal care assistant. The median half of CMAs earn between $21,000 and $30,000 per year in 2010. Average incomes are expected to grow slightly with demand.

The job outlook for home health aides, particularly CMAs and other certified drug-handlers, is strong. Because of the increasing average age in the US, the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the field to grow by over 20 percent between 2010 and 2020, which is much faster than the national average for job growth. Salaries vary widely due to various factors including region, experience, responsibilities, and even the patients themselves.

At Varis Health, we offer a monthly Certified Medication Aide course that is approved by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) that you will need to complete before registering for the exam. We have one that begins this Saturday, April 22nd, to register to be in this class or any future course, contact us today!
