The CMA class is held IN-PERSON.

Varis Health Education is a Private Career School specializing in the

CALA Course (Certified Assisted Living Administrator) which is held via ZOOM &

the CMA Course (Certified Medication Aide) which is held In-Person.

Certified Assisted Living Administrator Course


This workshop is approved by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services and NAB, the National Association of Long Term Care Administrators Board. This course provides training in the areas of Assisted Living Administration and Adult Medical Day Care. The focus of the course is ethics, services, regulatory compliance, human management and budgeting.

How do I get a CALA license in NJ?

To be certified as an Assisted Living Administrator, you must complete the assisted living training course,

and pass the Assisted Living Competency Examination within

two years of successfully completing the course.

Eligible CALA candidates are age 21 or older,

must have a clean criminal background check,

and must have a high school diploma. 

  • Undergo a Criminal Background Investigation (CBI)

If you do not pass the exam within 24 months of completing the training program,

you will be required to retrain.

Certified Medication Aide Course


Varis Health Education, LLC is approved by the Department of Education and Department of Labor and Workforce Development to operate a Private Career School.
This course is certified by the Department of Health and Senior Services. Administration Trainee refers to an individual who receives training to administer medications under the registered professional nurse's delegation in either an Assisted Living Residence or Comprehensive Personal Care Home, or as part of an Assisted Living Program.

How do I get a CMA license in NJ?

​

Certified Medication Aides provide services in assisted living facilities, comprehensive personal care homes, dementia care homes and assisted living programs.

To be eligible for certification as a medication aide, you must be currently certified in New Jersey as a nurse aide, home health aide or personal care assistant.

In addition, you must comply with the following:

  • Successfully complete a medication aide training program approved by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) before registering for the exam

  • Register & pass the exam within 3 months of completing of the training program

  • Undergo a Criminal Background Investigation (CBI)

If you do not pass the exam within six months of completing the training program,

you will be required to retrain.
