100-Hour Licensed Nursing Home Administrator Course (Required for NJ State Licensure as a LNHA):
Day 1: Mr. Dave Smith, LNHA -Introduction to class. Overview of textbooks and reading material. Review of Federal, State and Local regulating agencies. Introduction to Medicare and Medicaid programs. Licensure Standards for LNHA's. Regulatory Management. OBRA Survey Process.
Day 2: Mr. Gary S. Latimer, RN, LNHA - Basic Anatomy and Physiology, Disease Recognition/Prevention, Aging Process, Medical Terminology, Dementia/Delirium/Depression (the "3-D's), Infection Control basics.
Day 3: Ms. Katie Davis, MSW, CALA (1st-half day) - Social Services, Admissions, System Linkage, Community Resources, Government Services, Conflict Magagement, Resident's Rights. (2nd-half day) Mr. Eric Algair, MPH, LNHA - Marketing in Long Term Care.
Day 4: Ms. Lisa Triola, B.S. - Basic Prinicples of Accounting I, Part I.
Day 5: Mr. Dave Smith, LNHA - Organizational and Administrative Management; Planning, Organizing, Directing, Controlling and Staffing. Situational Analysis. Group Project - Management.
Day 6: Mr. Dave Smith, LNHA - Group Project - Management (Continued), Personnel Management (Part I), Personnel Policies and Employee Relations, Labor Management, Total Quality Management / Continuous Quality Management.
Day 7: Ms. Mary Ann Barbados, RN, BSN, LNHA, CALA - Nursing Services, Resident Assessment, Interdisciplinary Care Planning, MDS Completion and Submission Process.
Day 8: Ms. Jan Testa, RN, MSN, LNHA - Medicare & Utilization Review, Medical Criteria and Eligibility.
Day 9: Ms. Shannon Hite - Health Information Management, ICD-9 Coding, Medical Records Policy & Procedures.
Day 10: Ms. Lisa Triola, B.S. - Principles of Accounting Part II, Budgeting/Controlling, Fiscal Management, Reimbursement/Cost Reporting. Site Visit #1** - Business Office Managers, Accounts Payable/Receivables, Billing Systems.
Day 11: Mr. Edward Curtin, RPh - Pharmacy Services, Drug Regimen Review. (2nd-half) Ms. Marie Botazzi - Therapeutic Activities, Volunteer Programs.
Day 12: Mr. Steven Kosakowski - Clinical Aspects of Dietary Services and Nutrition. Site Visit #2** - General Facility Walk-Through.
Day 13: Mr. Robert Brogan, Esq. - Legal Aspects of Long Term Care. (2nd-half) Ms. Denise Van Tassell, RN, BS, LNHA, CALA - Alternative Housing for Seniors; Nursing Home Vs. Assisted Living or Independent Living.
Day 14: Mr. Dave Smith, LNHA - Personnel Management (Part II), Interviewing and Disciplinary Workshop.
Day 15: Ms.Denise Van Tassell, RN, BS, LNHA, CALA / Ms. Eileen Parenti, RN, BSN - Interpretive Guidelines, Plans of Correction, Survey Process.
Day 16: ALL INSTRUCTORS - General Question and Answers, Course Review, Resume Skills, Test Preparation and Classroom Final Exam.
** Note: Site Visits may occur at choice of several facilities throughout the State of NJ to accommodate students.
